Safety Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Policy Implementation:

    Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Safety Audits & Inspections:

    Conduct routine safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations.
  • Program Development:

    Work closely with department heads and senior management to design and roll out safety programs and initiatives that support operational safety.
  • Training & Awareness:

    Deliver safety training sessions on topics including hazard identification, emergency procedures, and safe work practices to employees and contractors.
  • Incident Investigation:

    Lead investigations of workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses. Identify root causes and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Documentation & Reporting:

    Maintain comprehensive records of incidents, inspections, audits, training activities, and compliance reports.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    Keep up-to-date with industry standards, safety laws, and regulations (e.g., IS 14489, OSHA, and local legislation), and implement best practices accordingly.
  • Team Collaboration:

    Participate in safety committee meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a proactive safety culture.

Required Certifications

  • NEBOSH (International General Certificate )
  • ADIS and any other recognised safety-related certifications

Experience Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience in a Safety Engineering role, preferably in the construction or engineering industry
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs at construction or industrial sites
  • Strong background in risk assessments, audits, and regulatory compliance

Key Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, standards (IS 14489, OSHA), and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to train, report, and engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergencies and ensure procedural compliance under pressure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to hazard identification and mitigation
  • Proficiency in using safety management software, inspection tools, and digital reporting systems
