Job Description

The Site Geologist shall be responsible for geological supervision, documentation, coordination, and reporting at site to ensure technically sound execution and complete, verifiable records of work carried out.

1. Geological Supervision & Litholog Maintenance

  • Prepare and maintain accurate lithologs for each well on a real-time basis during drilling.
  • Record depth-wise lithology, color, grain size, degree of weathering, fractures, water strikes, loss zones, and drilling behavior.

2. Collection & Preservation of Samples

  • Collect representative cuttings/samples at prescribed depth intervals or lithological changes.
  • Properly label all samples with site name, bore ID, depth range, and date.
  • Ensure systematic preservation and storage of samples for inspection, verification, and future reference.

3. Daily Progress Monitoring & Reporting

  • Prepare Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) covering:
  • Depth achieved
  • Lithology encountered
  • Drilling method and parameters
  • Casing/lowering/gravel placement activities
  • Development, testing, or standby reasons (if any)
  • Report any abnormal conditions such as caving, bridging, water loss, interconnection, or refusal immediately.
  • Ensure DPRs are submitted daily to HO / Project Manager without delay.

4. Photo & Video Documentation

  • Capture systematic photographic and video records of:
  • Drilling operations
  • Sample collection
  • Casing and assembly lowering
  • Gravel packing and development
  • Site conditions before, during, and after work
  • Ensure media is date-stamped, site-tagged, and properly archived.
  • Maintain a logical folder structure for easy retrieval during audits, BDR preparation, or disputes.

5. Progress Tracking & Site Coordination

  • Update site-wise progress status on a daily basis (drilling, reaming, casing, development, testing, completion).
  • Coordinate with drilling crew, rig in-charge, hydrogeologist, and project management team.
  • Flag delays, hindrances, or technical risks proactively

6. Site Planning & Execution Support

  • Assist in site-wise planning, including sequence of drilling, shifting, and testing.
  • Provide geological inputs for resolving site-specific issues.

7. Site Clearance & Local Coordination

  • Assist in site clearance activities, including coordination with local stakeholders where required.
  • Document site access constraints, local objections, crop issues, or administrative hindrances.
  • Ensure pre-work and post-work site condition documentation.

8. Compliance & Documentation Control

  • Ensure all geological records are consistent, legible, and contract-compliant.
  • Support preparation of BDRs, measurement records, and technical annexures.
  • Maintain records in a manner suitable for verification by client, consultants, or auditors.

9. Reporting & Escalation

  • Immediately report any deviation, unsafe condition, or technical anomaly to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure no critical geological or site issue remains undocumented or verbally handled.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
