Job Description

Responsible for maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems and equipment in a ferro alloys manufacturing plant to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform 

    preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance

     of plant machinery including furnaces, cranes, compressors, pumps, gearboxes, cooling systems, and conveyors
  • Monitor and maintain 

    submerged arc furnace equipment

    , raw material handling systems, tapping mechanisms, ladles, and casting equipment
  • Ensure proper functioning of 

    hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and implement 

    root cause analysis (RCA)

  • Support furnace shutdown and maintenance activities; coordinate with operations and electrical teams
  • Planning and supervision of 

    maintenance schedules and spare parts inventory

  • Improve equipment reliability using 

    condition monitoring

     techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, alignment)
  • Oversee 

    installation and commissioning

     of new machinery and upgrades
  • Ensure compliance with 

    safety standards

    , SOPs, and mechanical maintenance best practices
  • Prepare maintenance reports, checklists, and technical documentation
  • Vendor coordination for machinery, parts, and services
  • Contribute to 

    energy efficiency and cost-reduction projects


Key Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of 

    Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) operations

  • Strong understanding of 

    mechanical equipment maintenance

  • Experience in 

    hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, welding & fabrication

  • Familiarity with 

    CMMS / maintenance planning software

  • Hands-on knowledge of 

    gearboxes, bearings, pumps, blowers, compressors

  • Safety awareness & industrial standards knowledge
  • Problem-solving, leadership, and team coordination


Education & Experience

  • B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience in 

    ferro alloys, steel, metals, or heavy industrial plant maintenance

     preferred


Work Environment

  • Heavy manufacturing plant environment
  • Shift-based and shutdown maintenance duties as required
  • On-site industrial safety compliance
