Service Virtualization Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Develop Virtualization Assets:

  • Build and configure stubs, mocks, and virtual services for APIs, web services, MQ, Kafka, and file-based integrations.
  • Create data-driven virtual responses for REST, SOAP, MQ, and ETL testing.

  • Integration & Collaboration:

  • Partner with development, QA, and integration teams to identify virtualization needs and simulate end-to-end test scenarios.
  • Analyze interface specs (WSDL, XSD, Swagger) to create accurate virtual endpoints.

  • Tooling & Automation:

  • Implement virtualization solutions using

    CA Lisa / Broadcom DevTest

    ,

    Parasoft Virtualize

    ,

    Micro Focus SV

    , or

    WireMock

    .
  • Automate deployments via

    CI/CD pipelines

    (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and manage assets through

    Git

    .

  • Performance & Data Simulation:

  • Configure latency, throttling, and fault injection.
  • Integrate virtualization with Test Data Management tools for realistic simulations.

  • Governance & Documentation:

  • Maintain a central catalog of reusable virtualization assets and enforce best practices across teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years in service virtualization, API mocking, or test environment simulation.
  • Proficient in

    REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, JMS, MQ, Kafka, FTP/SFTP

    .
  • Scripting experience in

    Groovy, JavaScript, Python, or Java

    .
  • Strong understanding of integration patterns (real-time & batch).
  • Experience with CI/CD and version control systems (

    Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps

    ).
  • Familiarity with

    AWS / Azure / GCP

    and

    containerization

    (Docker, Kubernetes).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to

    data virtualization

    or

    Test Data Management

    tools.
  • Experience in

    Agile / DevOps

    environments.
  • Background in

    banking, insurance, or telecom

    domains.
  • Certification in Service Virtualization tools or API Testing.

Key Deliverables

  • Fully functional virtual services for identified interfaces.
  • CI/CD-enabled deployments for multi-environment testing.
  • Comprehensive documentation and reusable frameworks.
  • Improved test environment stability and faster release cycles.
