At DAZN, we’re transforming the way the world watches live sports—and we need talented engineers to help us elevate that experience on iOS and tvOS. We’re looking for a Player Engineer who’s passionate about native Apple development, obsessed with delivering seamless playback experiences, and ready to solve tough challenges at scale.
This isn’t just another system analyst job. You’ll be at the core of our native player innovation, ensuring that millions of fans enjoy smooth, secure, and stunning streams—no matter the match, device, or connection.
- Be the technical bridge between vision and execution—translating business needs into real-world features that power playback on iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs.
- Analyze and refine player workflows across iOS/tvOS, identifying performance gaps, friction points, and opportunities for innovation.
- Collaborate with a cross-functional powerhouse—engineers, QA, product managers, designers—to build and ship playback features that are fast, resilient, and elegant.
- Optimize AVPlayer integrations, troubleshoot playback issues (DRM, ABR, codec compatibility, sync), and ensure that our video just works.
- Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts to explore cutting-edge streaming tech—from low-latency delivery to next-gen codecs.
- Champion code quality and platform standards through code reviews, technical guidance, and hands-on support across CI/CD pipelines.
- Own and evolve player-related documentation—architectures, APIs, integration specs—and contribute to product excellence.
- Stay ahead of the curve by tracking the latest in video tech, Apple OS updates, and performance optimization techniques.

3+ years of real-world experience developing iOS and/or tvOS apps, preferably with a focus on media streaming.
- Fluency in Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit, with hands-on expertise in AVPlayer and Apple’s native video stack.
- Deep knowledge of HLS, FairPlay DRM, adaptive bitrate streaming, and how to debug playback like a pro.
- Experience optimizing performance using tools like Instruments, Xcode Profiler, and crash/debugging suites.
- A track record of working in Agile environments, using Git, JIRA, and collaborating with distributed global teams.
- Strong communication and analytical skills—you know how to break down complex problems and tell compelling stories with your solutions.
