Job Summary:

Senior Steward

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

1. Guest Service

• Welcome and seat guests when required.

• Assist waitstaff in serving food and beverages.

• Respond promptly to guest needs and requests.

• Ensure consistent delivery of high guest service standards and satisfaction.

2. Supervision & Coordination

• Support the Restaurant Supervisor in managing service staff during shifts.

• Assign tables and tasks to junior stewards/waiters.

• Train new team members on SOPs and customer service standards.

3. Table Setup & Dining Area Maintenance

• Ensure tables are properly set up before service (cutlery, napkins, glassware, etc.).

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in dining and service areas.

• Oversee resetting and preparation of tables between seatings.

4. Order Support

• Assist in taking and confirming guest orders when needed.

• Ensure accuracy and timely delivery of orders.

• Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to maintain smooth service flow.

5. Stock & Inventory Management

• Ensure adequate availability of service items (cutlery, crockery, linen, etc.).

• Maintain and report inventory levels to supervisors.

• Monitor and control usage of consumables like napkins and condiments.

6. Compliance & Hygiene

• Enforce hygiene and sanitation standards as per restaurant policies.

• Ensure all food safety practices are followed during service.

• Adhere to safety protocols, including fire and emergency procedures.

7. Reporting & Communication

• Report guest feedback, concerns, or complaints to supervisors.

• Maintain detailed shift reports and handover notes.

• Communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth operations.
