Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Steward is responsible for supervising stewarding operations to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in the kitchen and food service areas. This role supports the stewarding team, ensures compliance with health and safety standards, and assists in the smooth functioning of back-of-house operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and guide the stewarding team in daily cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, utensils, floors, walls, and work surfaces.
  • Monitor and manage the proper use of dishwashing machines and chemicals.
  • Ensure proper segregation and disposal of waste in compliance with hygiene standards.
  • Assist in setting up and cleaning banquet and buffet areas as required.
  • Conduct regular checks of cleanliness in the kitchen, storage, and back-of-house areas.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and stewarding equipment and report shortages.
  • Assist in training new stewards on safety procedures and cleaning protocols.
  • Enforce safety regulations and ensure all staff wear appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment).
  • Report maintenance issues or equipment breakdowns to the supervisor.
  • Support kitchen staff during busy periods or special events when needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in stewarding, preferably in a supervisory or senior role.
  • Good knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation, and hygiene standards (HACCP or local health codes).
  • Ability to operate and maintain dishwashing equipment safely.
  • Physically fit to perform manual cleaning duties and work in a hot, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations.
  • Experience in a hotel, resort, or large restaurant environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
