Job Summary

The Waiter / Steward is responsible for providing guests with efficient, courteous, and professional food and beverage service. The role ensures guest satisfaction through attentive service, product knowledge, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the restaurant area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests courteously and present the menu in a professional manner.
  • Take food and beverage orders accurately and relay them promptly to the kitchen or bar.
  • Serve food and beverages to guests according to established service standards and sequence of service.
  • Check with guests to ensure satisfaction with each course and overall dining experience.
  • Clear tables and reset them efficiently for the next guests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the dining area, service stations, and equipment.
  • Assist with mise en place before service — setting up tables, cutlery, condiments, and station supplies.
  • Be knowledgeable about menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, and daily specials.
  • Suggestively sell or upsell menu items to enhance the guest experience and increase revenue.
  • Handle guest requests and complaints politely, escalating to the Captain or Supervisor when necessary.
  • Follow all health, safety, and hygiene standards as per company policy.
  • Ensure billing accuracy and coordinate with the cashier for smooth settlement of bills.
  • Support teammates and ensure smooth coordination during peak hours.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Hotel Management diploma preferred).
  • 0–2 years of experience in restaurant or hotel service (freshers with good communication are also considered).
  • Knowledge of food & beverage service standards and table setting procedures.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Pleasant personality, positive attitude, and professional grooming.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and multitask.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays.
