Senior Specialist- Data Visualization

In this role as a Senior Specialist- Data Visualization at Merck & Co., Inc., you will be at the forefront of transforming the organization into a premier data-driven company. You will lead a team of Data Visualization and Analytics experts to design and develop analytical solutions that provide actionable insights and facilitate intuitive information consumption for internal business stakeholders. **Responsibilities:** - Lead and manage a team of ~10 visualization experts, designers, data analysts, and insights specialists to create a high-performing and inclusive work environment. Foster team-building initiatives, mentorship, and coaching while prioritizing diversity and well-being. - Develop user-centric analytical solutions by leveraging complex data sources to build intuitive and insightful dashboards. Implement best practices in visualization design to enhance user experience and drive business impact. - Engage with stakeholders to define key metrics, KPIs, and reporting needs. Conduct workshops to develop user stories, wireframes, and interactive visualizations. - Collaborate with data engineering, data science, and IT teams to create scalable reporting solutions that adhere to data governance, privacy, and security best practices. - Cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous learning by encouraging the adoption of new visualization tools and methodologies to build scalable solutions. - Identify opportunities for automation and streamline manual reporting processes through modern visualization technologies and self-service analytics enablement. - Provide thought leadership by sharing knowledge within the Data & Analytics organization and staying updated on industry trends to enhance visualization capabilities. **Required Experience and Skills:** - 10+ years of experience in insight generation, business analytics, business intelligence, and interactive visual storytelling with a focus on infographics and data-driven decision-making. - Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including team development and fostering engagement. - Strong product management mindset with experience in defining roadmaps and managing solution lifecycles. - Expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies, iterative development, and continuous improvement in data visualization and analytics solutions. - Hands-on experience with BI and visualization tools such as Qlik, Power BI, MicroStrategy, Looker, and ThoughtSpot, along with proficiency in PowerPoint and data storytelling. - Solid understanding of data engineering and modeling, ETL workflows, database technologies like Redshift and Snowflake, and programming skills in SQL and Python. - Experience in pharmaceutical commercial analytics, customer engagement, and digital analytics. - Proven ability to manage third-party vendors and contractors to ensure high-quality deliverables. - Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills to translate complex data into actionable insights.
