Job description Key Responsibilities: Fortinet Firewall Administration: Set up, monitor, and maintain Fortinet firewalls, such as the FortiGate series. Configure firewall rules, VPN setups, and security policies in line with the organization’s requirements. Oversee firewall performance, security logs, and events to detect and address potential security threats. Perform updates, patches, and backups for Fortinet devices. Troubleshoot connectivity, policy, and performance issues in a secure network environment. Active Switch Maintenance: Manage and configure active network switches, including brands like Cisco, HP, Aruba, or others. Set up VLANs, implement port channels, spanning tree protocols (STP), and Quality of Service (QoS). Monitor switch performance and optimize network traffic flow. Address and resolve issues related to switch connectivity, configuration, and hardware. Network Design & Optimization: Collaborate on designing and deploying network solutions that meet the organization's objectives. Analyze network performance and suggest improvements to increase efficiency and security. Create and maintain network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Security & Compliance: Ensure the network infrastructure adheres to security standards and internal policies. Conduct regular reviews of firewall and switch configurations to ensure compliance with best practices. Work closely with cybersecurity teams to handle incident responses and manage vulnerabilities. Support & Troubleshooting: Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for network-related issues. Address and resolve service tickets for firewalls and switches. Perform root cause analysis on critical issues and implement lasting solutions. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate) and active network switches. In-depth understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.). Preferred Certifications: Fortinet NSE (Network Security Expert) Certification. Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent. Technical Skills: Skilled in configuring FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer. Expertise in troubleshooting LAN/WAN networks. Familiarity with routing protocols, VPNs, and NAT configurations. Experience with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar. Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and documentation abilities. Ability to work both independently and within a team under tight deadlines.
