We are seeking a talented individual to join our GC Global Analytics & Advisory (GAA), Political Violence and Terrorism team at Guy Carpenter. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Lead Specialist / Deputy Manager - Catastrophe Risk Management
We will count on you to:

The role requires the analyst to help clients better understand their overall exposure to catastrophe risk relating to political violence and allow them to plan accordingly.

By analysing client exposure data, applying it against in-house and/ or vendor models and supporting trainee analysts, they produce loss estimates that enable brokers to construct effective reinsurance programs for clients.

The nature of the peril, which is dynamic, and in-house models, which are evolving requires the analyst to be an innovative developer.

Understanding the exposure data, assessing data quality and making necessary improvements (incl. geocoding) and assumptions for modelling in in-house and/ or vendor models for terrorism

Document, justify and communicate assumptions made before performing analyses, also produce reports that highlight changes in exposure across various timeframes and the associated impact of catastrophe model results.

Good experience in applying the policy conditions in the data

Run the exposure in in-house and/ or vendor models and reporting the results at various geographical resolutions as well as for the relevant lines of business within the client's portfolio.

Ability to interpret the change in loss results due to modelling parameters and client exposure change

Analysing how the distribution of results and relevant risk measures change due to the application of various proposed reinsurance alternatives and/or changes in model/data assumptions.

Work as a team, support the development of junior analysts and provide quality assurance reviews of others.

Work on ad hoc research and development projects as and when required to innovate new models and evolve existing models

Maintain a regular positive feedback from stakeholder

Proactive interaction with stakeholders on modelling requirements and ad hoc requests and build a network of relationships within the global company

Provide insights and process improvement ideas to enhance the efficiency of the process, considering the skillsets of colleagues who may be able facilitate this.

Use state of art techniques in data analytics and create new output dashboards
What you need to have:
-
Degree in Mathematics / Statistics / Computer-Science / Engineering (any stream) or related fields

4+ years of experience in Catastrophe Modeling in providing CAT analytics at account or portfolio level

Basics of Insurance / Reinsurance / Catastrophe Modeling

Knowledge on basics of Insurance/Reinsurance and Catastrophe Modeling

Proficiency in at least one of the CAT Modeling softwares RMS/ AIR/ RQE

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
-
Attention to details. Ability to understand and manipulate data quickly and creatively.

Ability to respond to changing priorities and manage time efficiently.

Ability to question analytical output, challenge and identify potential sources of errors and find ways to overcome them

Proficient in with Excel, Access and SQL
