Senior Java Software Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We’re looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer to join our fast-paced engineering team and help build reliable, scalable, and cloud-native backend systems. In this role, you’ll design and implement modern microservices to support core business features like billing, collections, scheduling, and payment gateways.

You’ll be hands-on with the latest Java and Spring frameworks, contributing across the full SDLC from concept and design to deployment and support in production. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys domain-driven design, event streaming, and building systems that directly impact end users at scale.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Design, build, and maintain robust, high-performance microservices using Java and Spring Boot
• Develop and expose RESTful APIs that support scalable platform integrations
• Work with Kafka and event-driven architecture for decoupled, asynchronous systems
• Optimize system performance through stress testing, profiling, and tuning
• Integrate cloud-native services and deploy to AWS environments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, Product, and DevOps
• Write clean, secure, and well-tested code following TDD and secure coding practices
• Troubleshoot and support production systems, performing root cause analysis
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• 5+ years of backend development experience with Java (8+) and Spring frameworks
• Experience with microservices architecture and REST API development
• Solid understanding of event-driven systems, ideally using Kafka
• Familiarity with scheduling, billing, or payment gateway workflows
• Cloud experience (preferably AWS) with deployment using Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and CI/CD environments
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL, or MySQL)

GOOD TO HAVE:

• Knowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code
• Experience with application security, such as secure code reviews and static analysis
• Prior work in a billing or payments platform
• Familiarity with API gateways, observability tooling, and container orchestration
