We are looking for a Senior Python Backend Engineer with strong experience in architecture and team leadership. You will be responsible for designing and building scalable backend systems, REST APIs, and serverless functions using Python in Azure or AWS environments. In addition to development responsibilities, this role includes leading backend development teams, defining feature-level architecture, and ensuring best practices in implementation and deployment.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams and product stakeholders to design robust, secure, and scalable systems and guide the development team in translating architecture into working code.

Responsibilities

• 
  Lead the design and architecture of backend solutions for new features and large-scale system components.
• 
  Provide technical leadership to backend teams, conducting design reviews, mentoring developers, and enforcing engineering best practices.
• 
  Deliver high-quality, maintainable, and testable software with minimal supervision.
• 
  Design and implement low-latency, high-availability, and performant backend services.
• 
  Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with backend logic.
• 
  Ensure end-to-end security, scalability, and data protection.
• 
  Build and integrate with cloud-native services in Azure and/or AWS, including:
• 
  Azure Functions / AWS Lambda
• 
  Azure API Management / Amazon API Gateway
• 
  Azure Blob Storage / Amazon S3
• 
  Azure SQL / Amazon RDS
• 
  Cosmos DB / Amazon DynamoDB or MongoDB Atlas
• 
  Azure Key Vault / AWS Secrets Manager
• 
  Azure Monitor & Application Insights / Amazon CloudWatch & X-Ray
• 
  Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps / AWS CodePipeline and CodeBuild.
• 
  Lead implementation of observability (tracing, logging, metrics) for production environments.
• 
  Guide integration of Gen-AI capabilities (e.g., Langchain, LLMs, Vectorization) into backend systems.
• 
  Drive estimation, planning, and design discussions for new feature development.

Skills and Qualifications

• 
  5+ years of software development and architecture experience, preferably in backend and cloud-native systems.
• 
  2+ years of experience leading development teams and owning feature/system-level design.
• 
  Expertise in Python and one Python web framework (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, Django).
• 
  Experience building serverless applications on Azure or AWS.
• 
  Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
• 
  Familiar with OAuth2/OIDC (Azure AD B2C / Amazon Cognito) for secure authentication.
• 
  Proficient with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• 
  Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, Git, Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI.
• 
  Understanding of infrastructure scalability, security best practices, and cloud cost management.
• 
  Familiarity with front-end basics (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, React).
• 
  Exposure to LLMs, Vector Databases, and Gen-AI frameworks is a strong plus.
