Senior Data Research Analyst

The Group: Morningstar’s Research group provides independent analysis on individual securities, funds, markets, and portfolios. The Research group also provides data on hundreds of thousands of investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles, along with real-time global market data on millions of equities, indexes, futures, options, commodities, and precious metals, in addition to foreign exchange and Treasury markets. The Role: The reference data team is responsible for the central system for maintaining key industry identifiers, like CUSIP, ISIN, and ticker for equity, fixed-income, and derivative securities to support portfolio analytics, regulatory initiatives, and Morningstar products. In this role, you will work with several teams across Morningstar as a senior data research analyst for equity corporate actions and building a derivatives database. As an senior data research analyst , you will be responsible for addressing data questions and improving processes.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as reference data expert in areas such as identifier corporate actions and assigning investment types to securities.
+ Must have strong knowledge on Capital market.
+ Better understanding on Corporate Actions and types of Corporate Actions.
+ Contribute to the equity project by establishing corporate action and key identifier assignment processes in order to improve portfolio analytics.
+ Collaborate with the reference data teams in Mumbai and Shenzhen to establish data collection best practices for corporate actions.
+ Improve processes using LEAN Six Sigma tools and coordinate with the quality team to ensure processes are documented and measured.
+ Work with third-party data providers to address data defects.
+ Create, execute, and update project plans while leading projects related to enhancing reference data quality.
+ Read, interpret and execute various reports generated weekly which assist in the maintenance of current and historical databases.
+ Respond to data queries in a timely manner.
Requirements
+ A bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or business with an exceptional academic record.
+ Two to three years of experience in the financial services industry.
+ Experience with processing equity corporate actions.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Creative thinker who takes an analytical approach to problem solving.
+ Detail-orientated self-starter with strong organization and time management skills.
+ Proven capability initiating and successfully completing process improvements.
+ Flexible in any of the shift.
