About the role:
The role provides strategic legal counsel, oversees contracts, ensures regulatory compliance, manages data privacy programs, and supports litigation. It involves advising management, building governance frameworks, standardizing contract processes, and mitigating legal risks. Requires an LL.B. (LL.M. preferred) with 3 5 years of experience in corporate legal, compliance, or contracts within technology or SaaS sectors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Strategy & Governance
- Provide strategic legal counsel to senior management on business operations, partnerships, and new initiatives.
- Develop and implement policies, workflows, and governance practices to manage legal and regulatory risks.
- Supervise and mentor members of the legal and compliance team to ensure knowledge development and consistency.
- Monitor developments in laws, regulations, and policies affecting the organization, and guide internal teams accordingly.
2. Contract Management & Lifecycle
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including SaaS, software license, distributor/partner, vendor agreements, NDAs, and service-level agreements pertaining to India and GCC jurisdictions.
- Oversee the contract lifecycle from drafting to renewal, ensuring compliance with business and legal standards.
- Implement and manage contract management tools and processes for better visibility, efficiency, and compliance.
- Standardize contract templates, approval processes, and playbooks to enhance consistency and turnaround time.
- Advise stakeholders on contractual rights, obligations, indemnities, and dispute resolution.
3. Privacy & Compliance
- Develop and maintain internal compliance programs covering data protection, privacy, and corporate policies (GDPR, DPDP Ac, HIPAA etc.).
- Provide guidance on privacy-by-design principles, data processing agreements, and website terms and condition.
4. Litigation Support
- Manage and coordinate pre-litigation and litigation activities in collaboration with external counsel.
- Assist in drafting responses, notices, pleadings, and other litigation documents as required.
- Support dispute resolution, arbitration, and settlement negotiations.
- Maintain a database of ongoing litigation, track case progress, and ensure timely updates to management.
- Advise internal teams on potential legal exposures and case strategy.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Law (LL.B.); Master s in Law (LL.M.) preferred.
- Experience: 3 5 years in corporate legal, contracts, compliance, or general counsel roles within technology, SaaS, or multinational environments.
- Expertise in commercial contracts, compliance management, data privacy, and litigation processes.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
