Role Description -

Engineer with expertise in sheet metal and plastic part design to support enclosure and product development. The candidate will be responsible for converting customer requirements into detailed designs, coordinating with vendors, guiding junior engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of error-free prototypes and production-ready designs.

Key Skills -

• Strong Excellent hand sketching ability for initial design concepts.
• Advanced CAD proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective technical communication and design presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage and coordinate design-to-prototype cycles.
• Knowledge of fabrication techniques for sheet metal and plastic parts.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and mentor junior engineers.
• Experience in vendor coordination and prototype validation.

Responsibilities -

• Understand customer requirements and prepare draft pencil sketches for initial concepts.
• Guide junior engineers in developing CAD models and concepts using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Identify and resolve errors in CAD models before customer submission.
• Coordinate with customers for design approvals and prepare fabrication drawings.
• Collaborate with vendors for prototype development, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Conduct fitment checks of prototypes with internal and external components.
• Manage the release of approved design data to the central database before handing over golden samples to production.
• Prepare and review 2D drawings of cables, harnesses, block diagrams, and layouts.
• Handle vendor follow-ups for enclosures and resolve design-related issues at vendor sites.
• Visit vendor factories for in-process inspections and design troubleshooting.
• Perform mechanical testing of prototype enclosures to validate design performance.
• Generate Purchase Requisitions (PR), Purchase Orders (PO), and create item codes in ERP

Other Requirements

• Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites as needed.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
