About the Role We re looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to lead our growth in the carbon markets and sustainability consulting space. This is a senior leadership role requiring deep domain expertise in carbon credits, I-RECs , and a strong track record in business growth. You ll lead a team of BDMs, close high-value deals, and work directly with the CEO to shape our go-to-market approach. This is not just a sales role it s about creating partnerships that move the needle on climate action. Note: Prior hands-on experience in carbon credits, I-REC markets, or sustainability consulting is essential . If you haven t worked in this space, this opportunity may not be the right fit at this time though we d love to connect for future roles. What You ll Be Doing Lead and mentor a team of Business Development Managers across regions and verticals Develop and execute sector-specific business development strategies Build relationships and close deals with key decision-makers (C-suite, VPs, Sustainability Heads) Guide the team in identifying and qualifying leads in the sustainability consulting and carbon markets space Create and deliver high-impact presentations tailored to client needs Negotiate and close complex, large-scale contracts with new clients Manage and expand relationships with existing clients, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities Stay informed on global and regional market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory shifts Work directly with the CEO and leadership team to shape and refine business strategy Ensure sales targets are met individually and as a team Represent Sustainiam at industry events, conferences, and partner meetings Ensure business development processes, documentation, and CRM hygiene are maintained at the highest level Who We re Looking For You re a strategic thinker, a team-builder, and a natural relationship driver. You ve worked in carbon markets or sustainability services long enough to know the landscape and you re now ready to lead growth from the front. Must-Have: 7-10 years of total experience, with 4-5 years in carbon credits, I-RECs, or sustainability consulting Strong sales and BD background with a proven track record of closing high-value deals Bachelors in Engineering, Science, or related field Postgraduate degree in Management, Environment, or Sustainability preferred Deep knowledge of carbon market mechanisms and sustainability offerings (ESG, GHG, Net Zero, etc.) Excellent communication, presentation, and client management skills Experience managing BD teams and collaborating across departments Fluent in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus Strong strategic mindset, self-motivation, and a passion for climate impact What You ll Gain A senior leadership role at one of India s leading climate tech companies A seat at the table work closely with the CEO and founding team The chance to work on high-impact projects with industry leaders A team that values your ideas, supports your growth, and celebrates your wins A meaningful career in one of the most future-forward industries on the planet Perks, Perks, and Did We Mention Perks?
