Role & responsibilities

Role Overview:

The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring overall supply chain strategy in order to maximize efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely availability of raw materials, consumables, and finished products. The role demands strong expertise in procurement, vendor management, production planning, logistics, and inventory control in the iron casting and forging industry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement & Vendor Management

• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers of raw materials (pig iron, alloys, steel, scrap, chemicals, etc.).

• Develop and maintain long-term relationships with casting and forging vendors.

• Ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials.

• Monitor supplier performance and implement vendor rating systems.

2. Production Planning & Scheduling

• Align supply chain operations with production targets.

• Develop short-term and long-term production schedules based on customer demand.

• Coordinate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.

3. Inventory & Stores Management

• Maintain optimum inventory levels of raw materials, consumables, and finished goods.

• Implement FIFO/LEAN inventory management practices.

• Minimize wastage, pilferage, and stock obsolescence.

4. Logistics & Distribution

• Manage inbound and outbound logistics for domestic and international customers.

• Optimize transportation costs while ensuring timely delivery.

• Oversee documentation for exports, customs clearance, and compliance.

5. Cost & Process Optimization

• Identify cost-saving opportunities across procurement, logistics, and warehousing.

• Implement ERP systems for tracking supply chain activities.

• Monitor KPIs such as OTIF (On Time In Full), inventory turnover, and lead time.

6. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure compliance with industry standards, ISO/TS certifications, and statutory requirements.

• Adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations in handling raw materials and chemicals.
