In the role of Principal-MTS , TIP , in the Security organization, you will lead the architecture roadmap for Salesforce s application security and vulnerability management platform, be authoritative on the soundness and tradeoffs for the team s technical decisions, be a significant evangelist for the latest, most relevant technologies and security engineering best practices, and mentor leaders of the teams that define and implement secure software, tools, and processes to run our distributed services that span all current and future Salesforce clouds. You will lead multiple initiatives in parallel including but not limited to raising the bar on scalability, availability and latency response of the services our team owns, identifying components that need refactoring and laying out the technical path along with pros and cons and effort estimates, guiding team members to drive service adoption across all the public cloud substrates and our own private cloud infrastructure, and other exciting large-scale initiatives. Primary Responsibilities: Own and lead the architecture and engineering vision and roadmap for the Salesforce application security platform Champion operational excellence and feed operational learning back into system design. Partner with product owners and engineering managers to make build/buy tradeoffs and balance time-to-market with long-term sustainability Partner with Salesforce application teams with shared responsibility for application security. Advocate and coach teams on application security best practices. Track trends in security technology, secure software development, software supply-chain security Build rapport with the Salesforce architect community and be the voice of application security Mentor and/or coach other engineers; advocate and champion their contributions and career development Required Skills/Experience: Ph.D. or Masters in Computer Science or equivalent. 12+ years of hands-on experience working in applications and/or systems development. 5+ years of experience in development in public cloud environments with container-based technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Istio). Experience with stateful, service-oriented application architectures and the associated system design characteristics and challenges. Hands-on experience and active coding skills using at least two of Golang, Java, C#, Python, Rust with attention to code quality and delivering secure code. Experience with relational and NoSQL databases and pub-sub messaging (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Amazon SQS). Strong proficiency in big data technologies and data pipelines. Experience with big data streaming and batch processing systems such as EMR, Kafka, Spark, and Storm. Proven ability to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to drive alignment around technology proposals with different audiences (execs, leaders, engineers).
