Reporting to the Head of the Enterprise Applications COE, the Director, Technology Architect (SAP ABAP & Integration) is responsible for providing technical leadership and strategic direction for the design, development, and integration of SAP-based solutions.
This role leads the architecture and implementation of SAP ABAP programs, integration platforms such as SAP CPI, and oversees complex migration projects from SAP ECC to S/4HANA. The Director ensures solutions are scalable, robust, and aligned with business objectives, while managing a team of SAP architects and developers and driving innovation across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, development, and governance of SAP ABAP-based solutions and integration strategies, including SAP CPI and related middleware.
- Define and enforce technical standards, best practices, and methodologies for SAP ABAP programming and integration across the enterprise, with a strong focus on S/4HANA environments.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of SAP projects, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
- Drive the adoption of advanced SAP technologies (e.g., S/4HANA, Fiori, cloud integration) and ensure seamless integration with legacy and third-party systems.
- Manage and mentor a team of SAP architects, developers, and integration specialists, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and functional leads to translate business requirements into technical solutions, especially during ECC to S/4HANA migration initiatives.
- Ensure the stability, performance, and security of SAP environments and integration points, with particular attention to migration-related risks and challenges.
- Review and approve technical deliverables, including high-level designs, system landscapes, and integration strategies for S/4HANA migration projects.
- Evaluate emerging SAP technologies and integration platforms, recommending and prototyping new solutions to enhance business processes.
- Collaborate with enterprise architecture and other IT teams to align SAP solutions with broader IT strategies and standards.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all technical architectures, integration patterns, and development frameworks, with detailed migration roadmaps and post-migration support plans.
- Represent the SAP technology team in enterprise forums, steering committees, and vendor negotiations.

Requirements
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in SAP application development, with at least 10 years focused on SAP ABAP and integration technologies.
- Extensive experience with SAP integration platforms, especially SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI), SAP PI/PO, and related middleware.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale SAP implementation, upgrade, and migration projects, including multiple end-to-end ECC to S/4HANA migrations
- Deep expertise in ABAP programming, custom development, performance tuning, and debugging, with hands-on experience in S/4HANA custom code adaptation and optimization.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles and the ability to align SAP solutions with business and IT strategies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of SAP ECC to S/4HANA migration methodologies, including system conversion, selective data transition, and new implementation approaches
- Experience with cloud technologies, API management, and hybrid integration architectures, including SAP BTP and enterprise cloud solutions9.
- Familiarity with SAP migration tools such as the Migration Cockpit, Simplification Item Catalog, and Readiness Check to ensure smooth transitions and minimal business disruption
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at the executive level.
- Ability to manage and mentor technical teams, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Certifications in SAP ABAP, SAP CPI, S/4HANA, or related technologies are highly valued.
- Experience with agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and modern software development lifecycles.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges and drive innovation in SAP landscapes, particularly during migration and transformation initiatives.
