Role & responsibilities

The Sales Representative is accountable for achieving sales growth, building strong retailer relationships, and expanding market presence in the assigned territory. The role includes daily market visits, identifying new retail outlets, taking orders, ensuring stock availability, enhancing product visibility, and consistently achieving daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.

Responsibilities include presenting product features and benefits, negotiating order volumes, implementing promotional plans, resolving retailer concerns, and coordinating with supply chain and distribution teams to enable timely deliveries. The Sales Representative must maintain accurate sales and collection records, manage product returns, and submit daily reports on sales performance, route coverage, and competitor activity.

The role requires effective route planning, retailer onboarding, and a deep understanding of local market dynamics, customer preferences, pricing behaviour, and competition. The Sales Representative must support marketing initiatives, gather market intelligence, share insights with management, and contribute to improving sales execution and strategy.

The position demands strong communication, negotiation, and time management skills, along with a target-driven mindset, self-discipline, and the ability to work independently in the field. Experience in FMCG, beverages, packaged drinking water, or related field sales activities is preferred.

The Sales Representative reports to the Sales Manager and plays a key role in revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and long-term market success.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Experience:

    15 years of packaged drinking water / beverages / retail field sales experience.
  • Industry Knowledge:

    Understanding of distributor model, retail channels, van sales, order booking, and route planning.
  • Skills:

    Strong communication, negotiation, relationship-building, upselling, and problem-solving skills.
  • Target Orientation:

    Proven ability to achieve daily/weekly/monthly sales targets with discipline and consistency.
  • Market Understanding:

    Familiar with local routes, demand patterns, pricing, and competitor landscape.
  • Work Style:

    Self-driven, punctual, organised, and comfortable working independently in the field.
  • Reporting Ability:

    Skilled in maintaining daily sales reports, order/collection summaries, and retailer feedback.
  • Mobility:

    Two-wheeler with valid licence preferred; ability to travel within assigned territory.
  • Behavioural Traits:

    Positive attitude, responsibility, ownership mindset, and willingness to learn and grow.
  • Education:

    Intermediate/Graduate preferred, but strong field experience will be considered.
