Sales Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Internal Sales

• Study customer inquiries, specifications, and tender documents to understand requirements.
• Prepare techno-commercial proposals, ensuring compliance with client specifications and company standards.
• Prepare technical documentation, datasheets, compliance statements, and drawings (in coordination with design team).

• Cost Estimation

• Prepare detailed cost estimates including materials, bought-out items, fabrication, and services.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor/sub-supplier quotations for accuracy and competitiveness.
• Work closely with procurement, design, and project teams to validate costing assumptions.

• Coordination & Communication

• Liaise with internal stakeholders (Design, Procurement, Production) to gather necessary inputs.
• Interact with customers/consultants for clarifications during bid stage.
• Support sales team in technical and commercial discussions during pre/post-bid meetings.

• Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure proposals meet technical, commercial, and contractual requirements.
• Prepare deviation lists, clarifications, and risk assessment reports.
• Maintain proposal records, costing database, and project references for future use.

• Continuous Improvement

• Analyze lost bids and suggest improvements to enhance competitiveness.
• Contribute to standardization of costing templates and proposal formats.
• Strong knowledge of estimation, costing, and proposal preparation.
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, BOQ, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office, and ERP/CRM systems.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering
• 2–5 years of experience in proposal/ quotation, estimation, or tendering in an engineering / manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of industry standards, contract terms, and costing practices.
