Verder Scientific Private Limited is the local branch of Verder Scientific, a leading high-tech company in the field of sample preparation and analysis. We are a dedicated and motivated team of 66 people, located in India, headquartered at Hyderabad and represent the six brands of our group in the domestic market, providing laboratories with innovative, precise and efficient solutions: Retsch is our specialist in laboratory mills and sieving equipment. Microtrac develops leading solutions for particle characterization. Carbolite supplies high-performance laboratory ovens. Eltra enables precise elemental analysis. QATM takes care of metallographic sample preparation and hardness testing and ERWEKA is our producer of pharmaceutical testing devices.. About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Sales Engineer with a strong technical background in Materialography and hardness testing technologies. The ideal candidate will combine engineering knowledge with strong communication and customer-facing skills to promote, demonstrate, and sell advanced laboratory testing equipment to industrial and academic clients.

 

Key Responsibilities :


Sales & Business Development

  • Promote and sell materialography, metallography, and hardness testing equipment to customers across manufacturing, research, education, and industrial sectors.
  • Identify new business opportunities, generate leads, and develop sales strategies based on market needs.
  • Prepare and deliver product presentations, equipment demonstrations, and technical proposals.
  • Manage the full sales cycle including pricing, negotiations, quotations, and order closing.


Technical Support & Expertise

  • Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable instruments or solutions.
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including application guidance and product training.
  • Conduct lab demonstrations on sample preparation equipment, microscopes, and hardness testers.
  • Communicate technical details effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.


Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, distributors, and channel partners.
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction through timely support and follow-up.
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, seminars, and industry events.


Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with internal engineering, service, and product management teams.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, CRM data, market insights, and competitor analysis.
  • Provide feedback to improve product offerings and marketing strategies.

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical, or related field) OR a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of materialography, metallography, sample preparation, hardness testing, and materials characterization equipment.
  • Understanding of laboratory processes used for microstructure evaluation, polishing, cutting, mounting, and hardness measurement.
  • 1–5 years of experience in technical sales, application engineering, or laboratory equipment.

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Self-driven, organized, and able to manage multiple customer accounts.
  • Ability to travel frequently for customer visits, demos, and events.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools, and technical documentation.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

  • Experience selling scientific instruments or materials testing equipment.
  • Hands-on lab experience in metallography/materialography.
  • Familiarity with standards such as ASTM, ISO, and relevant hardness testing procedures.
