Safety Officer

Job Purpose:

To ensure a safe and healthy working environment by implementing and maintaining the company's safety management system in compliance with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards. The Safety Officer will be responsible for promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and minimizing risks related to occupational health and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Compliance & Implementation

• Ensure compliance with all statutory safety, health, and environmental laws and company policies.
• Implement and monitor ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards across all departments.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and job safety analyses (JSA).
• Develop and implement safety SOPs and emergency response procedures.

2. Training & Awareness

• Conduct regular safety training and toolbox talks for all employees and contract workers.
• Develop safety awareness campaigns (fire safety, PPE usage, chemical handling, etc.).
• Support L&D team in safety-related induction training for new employees.

3. Inspection & Monitoring

• Carry out daily safety rounds and report unsafe acts/conditions with corrective actions.
• Monitor PPE usage and ensure compliance across shop floors.
• Ensure fire-fighting systems, safety alarms, and emergency exits are functional and inspected periodically.

4. Incident & Hazard Management

• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses; prepare reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Maintain safety documentation, records, and MIS reports.
• Coordinate with maintenance and production teams to eliminate potential hazards.

5. Environmental Health & Sustainability

• Support waste management, energy conservation, and pollution control activities.
• Monitor environmental parameters as per ISO 14001 requirements.
• Promote initiatives toward zero waste and green manufacturing.

6. External & Internal Audits

• Coordinate with external agencies, auditors, and government authorities (Factory Inspector, Pollution Board, etc.).
• Ensure timely renewal of statutory licenses (Fire NOC, Factory License, Hazardous Waste, etc.).
