Roles and Responsibilities of a Safety Officer

• Ensure implementation of the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies at the site.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts.
• Develop and enforce safe working procedures for all site activities.
• Monitor compliance with statutory safety regulations and legal requirements.
• Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and safety awareness training for workers.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses and prepare detailed reports.
• Recommend corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence of incidents.
• Ensure workers use appropriate PPE and maintain proper safety discipline.
• Coordinate with site engineers and supervisors to implement safety controls.
• Maintain safety documentation, records, and daily safety reports.
• Conduct risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for critical jobs.
• Monitor permit-to-work (PTW) system for high-risk activities (hot work, confined space, height work, etc.).
• Ensure proper housekeeping and safe access/egress on site.
• Check machinery, tools, and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards.
• Develop emergency preparedness plans and conduct mock drills.
• Ensure fire safety equipment is available, functional, and regularly inspected.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and management regarding HSE compliance.
• Provide induction training for new workers joining the site.
• Promote a strong safety culture and motivate workers to follow safety norms.
• Monitor environmental aspects including waste disposal, noise, dust, and chemical handling.
• Identify unsafe behavior patterns and counsel workers for improvement.
• Ensure first aid facilities and emergency response arrangements are in place.
• Display and update safety signage, posters, and emergency contact information.
• Prepare monthly/weekly HSE reports and submit them to management.
• Support audits, inspections, and compliance checks by external agencies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹18,383.58 - ₹35,000.00 per month
