Safety Officer Roles & Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with

  local, national, and international safety regulations

  (e.g., Factories Act, OSHA, ISO 45001).
• Develop and implement

  site-specific safety plans

  , including Emergency Response Plans (ERP).
• Conduct

  risk assessments

  and

  Job Safety Analysis (JSA)

  for all major activities.

2.

• Perform

  daily site inspections

  to identify unsafe conditions, practices, or equipment.
• Monitor

  Permit to Work (PTW)

  systems for high-risk activities (e.g., hot work, confined space entry, working at height).
• Ensure

  PPE compliance

  and availability for all workers and visitors.

3.

• Conduct

  safety induction programs

  for new workers and contractors.
• Organize

  toolbox talks

  , safety drills (fire, chemical spill), and refresher training.
• Promote a

  safety culture

  through posters, banners, and awareness campaigns.

• Investigate

  accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts

  ; prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis.
• Maintain

  incident logs

  and ensure timely reporting to management and statutory bodies.
• Recommend

  corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

• Maintain records of

  inspections, audits, training, permits, and incidents

  .
• Submit

  weekly/monthly safety reports

  to project management and client.
• Assist in

  internal and external audits

  related to safety.

• Liaise with

  contractors, site engineers, and project managers

  to ensure safety integration in planning and execution.
• Coordinate with

  emergency services

  and local authorities when needed.
• Participate in

  safety committee meetings

  and contribute to continuous improvement.

• Battery Handling & Storage

  : Ensure safe handling of lithium-ion batteries and chemicals.

• Fire Safety

  : Enhanced fire protection systems due to flammable materials.

• Electrical Safety

  : High-voltage installations require strict lockout/tagout procedures.

• Environmental Compliance

  : Monitor emissions, waste disposal, and water usage.

Education Qualification

Candidates must hold a B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Engineering, along with ADIS/PDIS certification from a recognized institute.
