The Field-Based Scientific Expert (FSE) plays a critical role in executing the Medical Affairs Plan(s) for pre-launch and newly launched products or indications. The role focuses on shaping clinical practice through scientific engagements, partnerships, and collaborations with both traditional (e.g., Key External Experts, Specialists, Primary Care Physicians) and, where appropriate, non-traditional stakeholders (e.g., policy and decision makers, patient advocacy groups, government representatives, innovative solution providers).

The FSE works closely with internal stakeholders to enhance patient outcomes and ensure the safe and effective use of the organizations medicines.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement Strategy

• Execute medical plans within the assigned therapeutic area and geographic territory.
• Maintain strong scientific and clinical expertise in disease management, relevant therapies, emerging treatment options, and the competitive landscape.
• Contribute to the development and leadership of the Field Medical Strategic Plan (FMSP).
• Act as a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders, providing scientific guidance and training as needed.

Scientific Exchange

• Engage in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals and key external experts, using the appropriate communication channels to differentiate company products.
• Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries and deliver balanced, evidence-based information that supports appropriate product use.
• Deliver scientific presentations and participate in educational or advisory events such as symposia, expert panels, and scientific exchange meetings.
• Collaborate with investigators on study proposals and support data generation activities, including investigator-initiated and local studies.

Customer Insight Intelligence

• Identify and analyze emerging medical and scientific trends, providing insights that inform product and medical strategy.
• Partner with traditional and non-traditional stakeholders to identify gaps in patient care and propose data-driven solutions to address them.

Strategic Relationships Collaboration

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with medical and scientific experts, healthcare professionals, and key external stakeholders.
• Identify potential investigators for pre-clinical, clinical, and post-marketing studies.
• Develop partnerships with government bodies, payer groups, and other ecosystem players to support access to innovative healthcare solutions.

Digital Innovation Focus

• Leverage digital platforms and technology to enable effective scientific exchange and enhance patient-centric solutions.
• Apply innovative approaches to engagement and data dissemination in alignment with medical objectives.

Compliance Governance

• Demonstrate sound understanding of pharmacovigilance and GxP principles, including Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and adverse event reporting requirements.
• Adhere to ethical standards, internal policies, and external regulations governing clinical trials, promotional activities, and scientific interactions.
• Ensure alignment with global field medical standards and local regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications Experience

Essential

• Masters degree in a scientific or healthcare discipline.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages across audiences and channels.
• Excellent project management, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical and conceptual thinking ability with a focus on scientific excellence and patient outcomes.

Desirable

• Doctoral degree (M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., or equivalent).
• Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, clinical or preclinical research, or regulatory environments.
• Understanding of therapeutic area-specific disease states and treatment landscapes.
• Experience collaborating with healthcare professionals and key external experts.
