Role Overview

As a Business Analyst in the Risk team, you will partner closely with Risk Managers and Data Scientists to:

  • Develop, maintain and enhance risk assessment models and frameworks across credit, operational, and portfolio risk.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify risk trends, early warning signals, and portfolio performance metrics.
  • Produce regular risk dashboards, heat maps, and reports for senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with product, finance, and collections teams to implement risk mitigation strategies and stress-testing scenarios.
  • Support special projects in fraud detection, stress testing, and scenario analysis using statistical and machine learning techniques.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Modeling & Analytics:

    Build and validate credit risk scorecards, PD/LGD models, and conduct back-testing and model performance monitoring.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:

    Extract and manipulate data using SQL/Python; deliver automated reports and interactive dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Portfolio Monitoring:

    Track portfolio-level risk metrics, repayment behaviour, delinquency patterns, and produce monthly/quarterly reports.
  • Policy & Frameworks:

    Assist in drafting risk policies, credit guidelines, and limit structures; ensure regulatory and internal compliance.
  • Stakeholder Management:

    Liaise with business users, data engineering, and compliance teams to translate risk insights into actionable recommendations.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with hands-on experience in statistical concepts (regression, hypothesis testing, clustering).
  • Advanced Excel skills for modelling and analysis
  • Proficiency in SQL to independently query data
  • Python or R (preferred) For deeper analysis like logistical regression, WOE IV analysis and model training.
  • Excellent data visualization skills using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving orientation, and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Collection process awareness and how collections data ties back to credit risk modelling

Relevant Experience

  • Experience:

    24 years in risk analytics, credit risk, or financial consulting with prior experience in building risk or credit models.
  • Background:

    Prior exposure to credit underwriting, portfolio risk management, or fraud analytics.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or related field. Top-tier educational background preferred.
