Job Description

The ENERG Lab at the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Madras, is seeking a highly motivated researcher to contribute to cutting-edge work in heat pumps and thermal energy systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with our team of experts and work on innovative, application-oriented research projects.


Responsibilities


  • Design, develop, and perform simulations and experiments on energy systems.
  • Conduct original research in integrated system design and industrial energy systems, such as heat pumps, chillers, and thermal energy storage systems.
  • Support preparation of research reports, publications, and presentations.

Qualifications


  • B.Tech/M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related fields (Energy Systems, Thermal Engineering) with a strong commitment to high-quality research output.
  • Demonstrated interest in one or more of the following: Energy systems modeling, Design of experiments, HVAC systems, Thermo-fluids, heat transfer, or fluid mechanics
  • Proficiency in scientific computing (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R).
  • Experience with simulation tools such as EES, DWSIM, TRNSYS, OpenModelica, or similar.
  • CFD experience (ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM) is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative research environment.
  • Proven presentation, technical writing, and project management skills.
