R&D - Technical Lead - FDP (Final Distribution Products- MCB, RCCB, DB)

Main Purpose of the Job-

Independently execute complete design cycles for:

• RCCB (2P/4P, Type AC/A/F/B)
• RCBO
• MCB
• Distribution Boxes (metallic & insulated)

Prepare and review:

• 3D CAD models & 2D drawings
• BOMs, specifications, and technical documents
• Support trials, pilot builds, and initial production issues

Standards & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance
• IEC / IS standards (IEC 60898-1, IEC 61008, IEC 61009, relevant IS standards)
• BIS, CB Scheme, internal QMS requirements

Competition Benchmarking (Technical & Cost)

• Lead structured benchmarking of competitor products, including:
• Internal construction analysis
• Material selection & design philosophy
• Performance vs cost trade-offs
• Feature comparison (safety, convenience, aesthetics, installation)

Cost Optimization & Value Engineering

• Drive design-to-cost initiatives across FDP portfolio
• Material optimization
• Part rationalization
• Tooling and process-friendly designs

Leadership & Team Development

• Technically mentor and guide up to 2 reportees
• Review designs, calculations, and drawings

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Marketing & Sales (VOC, field feedback)
• Manufacturing & Tooling
• Quality & Certification teams

SCM for alternate materials and vendors

Product Certification & Approvals

Testing of existing / new products, development test of new products / design modification

BE / BTech in Electrical Engineering preferred, 10–15 years of relevant FDP design experience

Technical

· Strong expertise in RCCB, RCBO, MCB, Distribution Box design

· Deep understanding of:

· Electrical safety, protection principles

· Short-circuit & thermal behaviour

· Plastic injection moulding & sheet metal design

· CAD proficiency (Creo / SolidWorks / equivalent)

. Hands-on prototyping, testing, and failure analysis

Behavioural

· Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset

· Detail-oriented with cost and manufacturability focus

· Ability to balance hands-on execution with leadership

. Clear communication with cross-functional stakeholders
