Raw Mill Incharge

Purpose/Objective

Lead endtoend operation of the raw milling section (VRM/ball mill), ensuring stable feed chemistry, high throughput, low specific power consumption, and consistent residue/Blaine targets. Owns shift execution, process control, quality compliance, and maintenance coordination to deliver clinkerready raw meal at optimal cost and energy.

a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } Operations & Process Control - Run the raw mill (VRM/ball mill) to achieve daily production and quality targets (Blaine/residue, LSF/SM/AM alignment). - Optimize key parameters: mill differential pressure, bed height, gas volumes, dam ring, nozzle ring, recirculation load, separator speed, feed rate, and grinding pressure. - Manage hot gas generator/preheater gas utilization and temperature to maintain stable drying (HO in feed) and mill inlet/outlet temperatures. Raw Mix & Quality Management - Ensure raw mix proportioning (limestone, corrective materials, laterite/iron ore, bauxite, sand, fly ash) meets target chemistry; coordinate with QC for realtime adjustments. - Review XRF results and laboratory feedback; implement online corrections via apron feeders/proportioning bins. Equipment Health & Maintenance Coordination - Monitor condition of rollers/liners, separator, baghouse/ESP, cyclones, bearings, hydraulic systems, and lubrication. - Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with E&I and Mechanical teams; prepare job packs for shutdowns (inspections, wear measurements, spares). Energy & Throughput Optimization - Drive reduction in kWh/ton, improve tph through process tuning, nozzle/guide vane settings, and reject optimization. - Track and act on KPIs: specific power consumption (SPC), mill availability, run factor, and heat consumption impacts. Safety & Compliance - Enforce LOTO, confined space, hot work, dust explosion prevention, and baghouse emission controls. - Ensure statutory records for dust collector performance, noise/vibration, and workplace exposure are maintained. People Leadership & Training - Lead shift raw mill operators and attendants; conduct toolbox talks; certify critical tasks (start/stop, emergency procedures). - Build capability on DCS operations, process alarms, and routine inspections. Reporting & Continuous Improvement - Maintain daily production logs, stoppage analysis, and action plans; present weekly performance dashboards. - Run RCAs for repetitive issues (high vibration, hopper choking, false air, high residue) and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications and Experience

- Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Cement/Production Engineering (or equivalent). - Experience: 5–10 years in raw mill operations (VRM/ball mill) within integrated cement plants; DCS exposure mandatory. - Certifications (Preferred): Safety (LOTO/confined space), condition monitoring basics, and DCS/operator certification.
