JD for Quantity Surveyer in Construction Projects

Role

A construction project Quantity Surveyor is responsible for preparing and submitting cost estimates, BOQs and Checking the MBs. Key duties include studying the Bill of Quantities (BOQ), calculating and preparing Rough Estimates and finalising the measurements of construction works executed after physical and technical checks including quality and specifications. He plays key role of supporting PMs and Billing Executive in proper accounting of work executed at construction site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports billing processes, including milestone billing, interim payments, and final account settlements along with PM, Audit and Contractors.
  • Review contracts, variations, and change orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual terms.
  • Assist in resolving measurement and billing discrepancies and disputes in collaboration with project managers and contract section.
  • Participate in monitor project costs, track expenditures, and implement cost control measures to prevent budget overruns and optimize resource utilization.
  • Support in identifying opportunities for cost-saving initiatives and value engineering without compromising quality or safety.
  • Ensure compliance with IS codes and other relevant standards in quantity surveying and cost estimation processes.

Qualifications and skills

  • Education:

     A Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a Quantity Surveyor related qualification.
  • Experience:

     Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Technical skills:

     Strong knowledge of project measurement & billing processes and construction project lifecycles. Familiarity with accounting and billing software, as well as Excel.
  • Soft skills:

     Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities are crucial.
  • Industry knowledge:

     Understanding of relevant IS codes and standards is beneficial.
