Job Description

A Wire Harness Quality Head is responsible for leading the quality assurance and control efforts for wire harness production, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. This role involves developing and implementing quality control procedures, conducting audits, analysing data, and leading teams to maintain high-quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. They also manage customer relationships regarding quality-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation and Management:

Ensuring the QMS is robust and encompasses the entire wire harness lifecycle, from design to production and delivery.

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Compliance:

Deep understanding and implementation of the IPC/WHMA-A-620 standard, the primary guideline for wire harness assembly.

  • Process Improvement:

Identifying areas for improvement in the manufacturing process and implementing solutions to enhance quality and efficiency.

  • Data Analysis and Root Cause Analysis:

Analysing quality data, identifying trends, and conducting root cause analysis (e.g., using 8D methodology) to address quality issues.

  • Team Leadership and Training:

Mentoring and training quality team members, fostering a culture of quality awareness, and ensuring adherence to quality standards.

  • Customer Relationship Management:

Handling customer inquiries and complaints related to product quality, maintaining strong communication, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Audit Management:

Conducting and participating in internal and external quality audits, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

  • APQP and PPAP:

Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and their application in the wire harness industry.

  • Testing and Inspection:

Overseeing various quality control tests and inspections and other relevant assessments.

  • PFMEA and MSA:

Understanding and utilizing Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).

  • Lean Manufacturing Principles:

Knowledge and application of lean manufacturing principles to optimize production processes and minimize waste.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical) or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in quality assurance and quality control within the wire harness industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Familiarity with industry standards like IPC/WHMA-A-620.
