Python Backend Developer — On-site (India)

About The Opportunity

A recruitment partner placing technical talent into enterprise software, SaaS, fintech and e-commerce teams across India. We are hiring for an on-site Python Backend Developer to join a fast-moving engineering organisation that builds web services and data-driven products for national customers.Role & Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs using Python (Django/Flask/FastAPI) for production web applications.
• Implement and optimise SQL queries and data models with PostgreSQL/MySQL to ensure low-latency data access and reliable transactions.
• Write automated unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and uphold code quality and documentation standards.
• Containerise applications with Docker, support CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate to deploy services to staging and production environments.
• Troubleshoot performance issues, profile services, and implement optimisations (query tuning, caching, async workers) to improve throughput and reliability.
• Work closely with product managers, frontend engineers and QA to translate requirements into robust, maintainable backend solutions.
  

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

• 4+ years hands-on experience building backend services with Python in a production environment.
• Strong experience with Django, Flask or FastAPI and building RESTful APIs.
• Proven SQL skills with PostgreSQL or MySQL and familiarity with ORMs.
• Comfortable with Git workflows, unit testing, and basic CI/CD concepts.
• Experience containerising apps with Docker and working on Linux-based servers.
• Willingness and ability to work on-site in India (required).
  

Preferred

• Familiarity with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda) or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with async frameworks, Celery/Redis/RabbitMQ or background-job processing.
• Knowledge of observability tools (logging, metrics, APM) and production monitoring.
• Exposure to performance tuning, caching strategies and security best practices for web services.
