The Purchasing Intern/External will support the Procurement team in day-to-day operations
including vendor coordination, data management, purchase order processing, and market
research. This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to purchasing processes,
supply chain activities, and vendor management, while contributing to smooth
departmental functioning.
• Assist in preparation and processing of Purchase Requisitions (SC to PO).
• Support vendor identification, vendor data management, and initial supplier
communication.
• Assisting Senior Buyers in day to day purchasing activities.
• Training of purchasing tools (Espresso, workflow, SAP etc.) to new business users.
• Granting system access to new business users.
• Generating reports and creating presentation.
• Resolving purchase order related issues like change in tax, plant code etc.
• Supporting supplier as 1st line of contact in case of any Purchase Order related
issues.
• Analyzing spend data on monthly basis.
• Coordination and follow-ups with supplier for contracts.
• Help in collecting and comparing quotations for various requirements.
• Coordinate with internal departments (Admin, IT, HR, Marketing, Operations) for
procurement-related queries.
• Maintain records of contracts, purchase files, and reports in an organized manner.
• Support in vendor evaluation and performance tracking.
• Assist in updating procurement dashboards, trackers, and reports in Excel / ERP
(SAP / Coupa / other tools as applicable).
• Perform basic market research to compare costs, specifications, and vendors.
• Help in ensuring compliance with procurement policies and processes.
• Provide general administrative and clerical support to the purchasing team.
• Learning Opportunities:
• Exposure to end-to-end procurement cycle and supply chain operations.
• Hands-on experience with ERP tools such as SAP MM, ESPRESSO and Coupa
(if available).
• Understanding of vendor management, RFQ (Request for Quotation), and
procurement planning.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration and communication.
• Insights into corporate purchasing strategies, cost optimization, and compliance
requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Pursuing or recently completed Bachelors (Mechanical Engg, Electrical Engg &
Electrical & Electronics & Computer Science / masters degree in supply chain/
marketing/ Operations.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Proficiency in MS Oice (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & PowerBi).
• Detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn.
• Basic understanding of procurement / supply chain concepts (preferred but not
mandatory).
