Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated PhD-level Biomedical Engineer to join our cutting-edge team developing AI-based cytology testing platforms for blood and urine analysis. You will work at the intersection of biomedical imaging, machine learning, and clinical diagnostics to design, implement, and validate automated systems that enhance the accuracy, speed, and efficiency of cytological evaluations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of AI models for analysing blood and urine cytology images
  • Collaborate with clinicians and pathologists to understand diagnostic workflows and performance needs
  • Develop imaging pipelines, including sample preparation, image acquisition, pre- processing, and data annotation
  • Integrate machine learning algorithms (including deep learning) for cell classification, abnormality detection, and quantification
  • Conduct experimental validation, statistical performance analysis, and regulatory documentation
  • Work with software developers to deploy AI models into clinical software systems or point-of-care devices
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences
  • Stay updated on advances in biomedical AI, cytology, and diagnostic technologies


Qualifications:

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
  • Strong background in image processing, machine learning, and deep learning (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)
  • Experience with cytology or hematology imaging data, including blood smears and urine samples
  • Knowledge of statistical methods for diagnostic performance (ROC, sensitivity, specificity, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration (clinicians, engineers, regulatory teams)
  • Prior experience with medical device development, regulatory standards (FDA, CE), or clinical trials is a plus


Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with digital pathology platforms and whole-slide imaging
  • Experience developing AI tools under ISO 13485 or similar quality management systems
  • Knowledge of data privacy, medical data management (HIPAA, GDPR)
  • Programming in Python, MATLAB, or C++ for biomedical applications
  • Publications or patents in AI-based medical diagnostics
