This is a full-time on-site role as a Production & Maintenance Manager at our Tissue Converting Plant located in Howrah. The Production & Maintenance Manager will oversee the daily operations of the plant, ensuring the smooth running of equipment and the facility. Responsibilities include managing preventive maintenance schedules, supervising maintenance and repair activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
1. Production Management
• Plan and execute daily/weekly production schedules for all tissue products (napkins, facial tissues, toilet rolls, kitchen towels).
• Monitor machine speeds, yield, and waste percentage to meet or exceed targets.
• Ensure 100% order fulfillment with on-time dispatch.
2. Maintenance Management
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance plan for all converting machines (folders, rewinders, embossers, log saws).
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic issues to reduce downtime.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and ensure availability of critical components.
3. Quality Control
• Ensure products meet GSM, ply, size, embossing, folding, and packaging specifications.
• Work with QC to identify root causes for defects and implement corrective actions.
4. Workforce & Shift Management
• Supervise machine operators, helpers, and maintenance technicians.
• Provide training on machine operation, minor troubleshooting, and safety.
• Manage shift schedules and manpower allocation.
5. Process & Cost Optimization
• Reduce material waste and rejects through continuous process improvement.
• Track maintenance costs per MT and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Optimize machine changeovers and setups to reduce idle time.
6. Reporting & Coordination
• Prepare daily production and downtime reports.
• Communicate with procurement for raw material/spares and with sales for production priorities.
• Present weekly MIS to management with performance KPIs.
7. Safety & Compliance
• Enforce machine safety SOPs and PPE usage.
• Ensure compliance with local labor and industrial safety regulations.
• Tissue converting machinery: napkin folders, facial tissue folders, toilet/kitchen roll rewinders, embossers, log saws.
• Pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, bearings, tension control.
• Basic PLC, VFD, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Qualification: Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, or Production Engineering.
• Experience: 6–10 years in manufacturing, 3+ years in tissue/paper/nonwoven converting.
• Skills: Leadership, planning, troubleshooting, cost control, ERP/MIS proficiency.
