The Job Profile
Simon & Schuster India is looking for a Product & Procurement Director to lead our Product team.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Product & Procurement Director is a strategic role, leading the acquisition and curation of bestselling frontlist and backlist titles from our group companies and third-party publishers across the US, UK, Australia, Canada and other key territories. The role is integral to shaping our international publishing strategy and expansion of Simon & Schuster’s market presence in India.
The Job Role
The Product & Procurement Director will combine commercial insight, operational leadership, and procurement expertise to ensure the business delivers high-quality, market-aligned print and digital products efficiently and profitably.
The key responsibilities include product acquisition, product planning across all formats, aligning strategies with international and local publishers, clients, commercial, sales, marketing and rights team alongside market needs. Collaborating with senior leadership, you will shape long-term sourcing strategies, drive continuous improvement, and oversee procurement and supply chain operations to ensure cost-effectiveness, quality, timely delivery, and sustainable, ethical practices. You will manage supplier relationships, guide product development, set KPIs, implement scalable workflows, coordinate with finance on budgeting, ensure compliance, mentor teams, and foster cross-functional collaboration.
The Candidate Profile
The Product & Procurement Director will have a strong understanding of Indian readership trends and genre preferences. You will have experience of international rights, licencing, stake holder management, leading the end-to-end management of publishing products across all formats, driving strategic sourcing and procurement initiatives.
You will have a proven track record in managing complex vendor relationships and negotiating large-scale contracts, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to align strategies with overall business goals.
