Product Engineer

Solely looking for freelancers and contractual individuals. We are seeking a multi-disciplinary Product & Industrial Design Engineer who can own both the mechanical core and aesthetic direction of a physical product. You’ll be responsible for turning early concepts into a fully functional, visually refined, and manufacturable product using both engineering precision and design intuition in a span of 2 months max.

This role blends product mechanics, user-centered design, and manufacturing awareness to bring a complete physical experience to life.

Key Responsibilities Mechanical & Product Engineering

• Design robust internal mechanisms and physical structures based on functional and user requirements
• Develop CAD models and 2D drawings for mechanical parts and assemblies
• Validate fit, function, and performance through simulations and prototypes
• Prototype using FDM/Resin 3D printing, and prepare for low-volume production (Vacuum casting, Thermoforming, Blow molding, Plastic sheet bending)
• Collaborate with electrical engineers for mechanical integration of PCB, battery, display, buttons, etc.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable using FDM, vacuum casting, or off-the-shelf plastic components, without relying on DFM for tooling or injection molding

Industrial Design & Aesthetics

• Define and refine the overall form, ergonomics, and CMF (Color, Material, Finish) strategy
• Design for user interaction, intuitive assembly, and pleasing proportions
• Translate brand and user values into a cohesive physical form
• Produce design sketches, product renders, and presentation boards
• Create prototypes for visual, ergonomic, and user testing

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with stakeholders including engineers, marketers, and manufacturing partners
• Balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals
• Communicate design intent clearly through visuals, specs, and prototypes
• Iterate rapidly based on testing, feedback, and feasibility

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
• 3–6 years of experience in consumer product development
• Strong portfolio demonstrating both mechanical design and aesthetic product design
• Proficient in CAD (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar) and visualization tools (KeyShot, Blender, Adobe CC)
• Deep understanding of plastics, tolerances, surface treatments, and design for assembly
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, modeling, and form exploration
• Knowledge of low-volume manufacturing processes:
• FDM/Resin 3D Printing
• Vacuum Casting
• Thermoforming
• Blow Molding
• Plastic Sheet Bending/Forming

Bonus Skills

• CMF development and supplier specification experience
• Human factors and ergonomics expertise
• Familiarity with sustainability practices in design
• Experience working with contract manufacturers and sourcing vendors
• Basic understanding of electronics for hardware integration

Pay: ₹75,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
