As a Product Development Engineer, your role will involve developing, troubleshooting, and commercializing formulations of shelf stable food products using thermal processing/retort technology. To excel in this position, you should leverage your strong experience in R&D, Food Process Engineering principles, Design of Experiments Methodology, Food Chemistry, and Culinary Science. Key Responsibilities: - Develop formulations of shelf stable products from concept to formulation, including sample prototypes, heat penetration studies, operations trials, and product launches. - Provide hands-on leadership, mentoring, and management to Retort Operators, Thermal Processing Technicians, and Retort Supervisors. - Complete record review and process deviation analysis for all retort operations in compliance with FSSAI regulations. - Conduct and evaluate temperature distribution studies and heat penetration studies. - Maintain accurate records and documentation of testing, validations, and other relevant information. - Review and develop thermal processing procedures to ensure the safety and quality of food products. - Collaborate with customers and regulatory personnel during visits, inspections, and audits. - Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical assistance to optimize thermal processes and resolve issues. - Monitor trends in ingredients, products, packaging, and processes to provide innovative recommendations and solutions. - Generate technical information such as nutrition panels, ingredient statements, labels, and specifications. - Organize product evaluations for competitive analysis, customer presentations, and cross-training. - Lead or assist in shelf-life trial design, evaluations, recommendations, and reporting. - Maintain updated documents and records in accordance with Food Safety and Quality Standards. - Work collaboratively as a team to achieve company objectives. - Fulfill any other duties as necessary. Key Requirements: - Minimum of two years of proven R&D experience in thermal processing/retort technology. - Experience in the full product development life cycle within the food/beverage science or culinary field. - Expertise in manufacturing tests, guiding teams through trials, and launching products within constraints. - Deep knowledge of food ingredients functionality, applications, and cost-effective solutions. - Strong analytical skills, self-motivation, and results-oriented mindset. - Proficiency in MS Office. - Well-organized with a systematic approach to problem-solving. - Open and objective mindset in issue resolution and offering solutions. - Ability to prioritize work and make decisions effectively in a fast-paced environment. In this full-time role, you will be required to work in Salem, Tamil Nadu, and should have the ability to commute or relocate before starting work. A Bachelor's degree is a requirement, along with two years of experience in Thermal Processing, Retort Operations, and Food Scientist (R&D). Fluency in English and availability for day shifts are essential for this position.
