Key Responsibilities

• Design Development: Create original handbag designs for premium and luxury collections across various product lines (totes, clutches, satchels, crossbody, etc.)
• Trend Research & Forecasting: Analyze global fashion trends, materials, colors, and shapes; translate them into commercially viable designs for the target market.
• Material & Component Selection: Source and select premium materials such as genuine leather, hardware, embellishments, and trims suitable for the luxury segment.
• Tech Pack Creation: Develop detailed tech packs including sketches, specifications, material sheets, and construction details for sampling and production teams.
• Sampling & Product Development: Work closely with sampling teams to create prototypes; conduct fittings and refinements to ensure product quality, functionality, and finish meet luxury standards.
• Vendor & Production Coordination: Collaborate with vendors, artisans, and manufacturing partners for sourcing, sampling, and bulk production processes.
• Range Planning: Assist in building cohesive seasonal collections in alignment with brand direction and merchandising plans.
• Brand Alignment: Ensure all designs reflect the brand’s identity, ethos, and luxury positioning while maintaining a unique and trend-forward aesthetic.
  

Desired Skills & Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma in Fashion Design, Accessory Design, or Leather Design from a reputed institute (e.g., NIFT, FDDI, etc.)
• Minimum 5 years of experience specifically in designing premium or luxury handbags.
• Strong knowledge of materials like leather, vegan leather, suede, canvas, and luxury hardware.
• Excellent hand sketching and digital rendering skills (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW).
• Strong understanding of construction techniques, prototyping, and luxury finishing standards.
• Creative thinker with a strong fashion aesthetic and market sensibility.
• Experience in working with domestic and/or international markets in the luxury space is a plus.
  

Preferred Candidate Profile

• Worked with premium/luxury handbag brands or design houses (D2C or export).
• Exposure to international fashion weeks, buyer shows, or global clientele.
• Understanding of sustainable and ethical design practices is an advantage.
