Polymer Scientist - Carbon Black/Rubber

Mandatory Requirement:

Stream: Rubber/Polymer Science & Technology
MTech in Rubber Technology or MTech In Chemical Currently MUST be working in Rubber Industries/Polymer industry.

• Understanding of carbon black technology/advanced filler technology/rubber technology with in-depth knowledge of testing, characterization and analysis of rubber compounds, fillers and relevant additives.
• Familiarity and visualization of recent trends in
• technology, sustainability, and product stewardship of Rubber technology.
• Ability to identify the scope of new carbon blacks and carbonaceous materials for business growth and brand building of the company.
• Modifications of carbon black
• Product knowledge in the field of tyre, non-tyre and special applications of rubber goods.

JOB Description :

Role Purpose

To contribute to the development of novel carbon black, advanced fillers, and rubber compounds, while supporting sustainability initiatives, resolving process and customer issues, and ensuring high laboratory standards. The role focuses on research, innovation, product development, and technical problem-solving to enhance business growth and product performance.

Key Responsibilities
1. Journey of Excellence / Product & Technology Development

• Develop novel carbon black grades and other advanced fillers for rubber applications.
• Apply deep understanding of carbon black technology, rubber technology, testing methods, and material characterization.
• Track emerging industry trends, sustainability initiatives, and product stewardship requirements.
• Identify opportunities for new carbonaceous materials to support business growth and company branding.
• Modify carbon black and develop rubber compounds for specific tyre, non-tyre, and specialty applications.
• Conduct reverse engineering to improve the performance of rubber compounds.

2. Sustainability & Regulatory Compliance

• Understand sustainability and regulatory frameworks related to the rubber industry.
• Support R&D initiatives to ensure product and process compliance with sustainability guidelines.
• Identify opportunities for product development or modification aligned with regulatory and sustainability requirements.

3. Troubleshooting & Customer Support

• Engage in resolving internal process issues and critical customer complaints.
• Conduct root-cause analysis through literature review, data analysis, and hypothesis building.
• Lead laboratory and pilot-scale experiments to determine effective solutions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to implement solutions at the plant level.

4. Laboratory Management

• Manage laboratory systems, inventory of chemicals, and maintenance of R&D equipment.
• Ensure adherence to laboratory best practices, documentation, and operational safety standards.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s Degree: BE/B.Tech/M.Sc. in Rubber/Polymer Science & Technology

Post-Graduation (Mandatory): M.Tech. in Rubber/Polymer Science & Technology

Experience

3 – 6 years of relevant industry experience in rubber, polymer, carbon black, or related fields.
