Job Description

Job Title: Planning, Procurement, and Inventory Control Manager

Department: Materials Management

Reports to: Director in Charge

Location: Trichy

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Supply Chain

• MBA / Postgraduate Diploma in Materials Management (preferred)

• Strong working knowledge of product drawings, tools, mouldings and machining.

• Minimum 1015 years in procurement, planning and inventory management roles,

preferably in a manufacturing industry

• Ability to lead and drive teams to deliver an achieve management targets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement Management:

• Manage the end-to-end procurement cycle from sourcing to supplier payments,

ensuring quality and timely delivery.

• Deliver Cost Savings through strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations, and bulk

procurement.

• Evaluate and improve Supplier Performance by monitoring on-time delivery, fill

rates, and quality.

• Minimize Procurement Cycle Time and Cost per Invoice through process

optimization and digitization.

• Ensure Spend Under Management is maximized by consolidating suppliers and

leveraging contracts.

• Enforce Contract Compliance and reduce Emergency Purchases through

proactive planning.

2. Inventory Management:

• Define and maintain optimal inventory levels to balance cost with production

readiness.

• Analysing inventory data to identify trends, forecast demand, and optimize

inventory levels.

• Minimize excess, obsolete, or slow-moving inventory through data analysis and

continuous review.

• Implement inventory classification (ABC/FSN/XYZ) and control techniques.

• Supervise inventory audits, cycle counting, and reconciliation.

3. Collaboration and Communication:

• Collaborating with production and logistics teams to align procurement and inventory

strategies with overall business objectives.

• Communicating inventory status, potential issues, and improvement

recommendations.

• Leading and developing a team of inventory and procurement professionals,

providing training and guidance.

4. Systems & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate data in ERP systems for BOM, inventory, and procurement

modules.

• Recommend and implement process improvements and digital solutions for better

visibility and control.

5. Compliance and Risk Management:

• Develop contingency plans for material shortages, supplier failures, or logistics

disruptions.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and safety

standards.

6. Other Responsibilities:

• Identifying cost-saving opportunities in the procurement and inventory management

processes.

• Managing returns and exchanges with suppliers.

• Excellent communication and coordination skills

• Proficiency in Excel and ERP-based reporting

• Leadership and team management
