Job Description

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain backend features and RESTful APIs using PHP and Laravel following SOLID principles and clean architecture.
  • Implement database schemas, write optimized queries, and maintain data integrity using MySQL and Eloquent ORM.
  • Integrate third-party services (payment gateways, CRMs, analytics) and build secure authentication/authorization flows (JWT/OAuth).
  • Write automated tests (unit and integration) and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and reliability.
  • Containerize applications, collaborate on CI/CD pipelines, and troubleshoot performance, scalability, and security issues in production.
  • Work closely with product, QA, and UI teams on feature design, estimation, and delivery while mentoring junior engineers.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have
  • 4+ years of professional experience developing web applications with PHP and Laravel.
  • Strong expertise with Eloquent ORM and relational database design (MySQL).
  • Proven experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
  • Proficient with version control using Git and dependency management with Composer.
  • Experience with automated testing using PHPUnit and writing maintainable test suites.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and production deployment practices.

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with caching and message stores such as Redis.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS) and CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Experience optimizing application performance and implementing security best practices.
