Job Description

Role & responsibilities

A. Administration & Facility Management

  • Oversee day-to-day hostel operations including upkeep, cleanliness, maintenance and utilities coordination.
  • Maintain inventory of hostel assets (furniture, appliances, linen, etc.) and report discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, security and cafeteria teams for smooth functioning.
  • Monitor water, electricity, sanitation and pest control schedules.

B. Resident Management

  • Facilitate onboarding and exit formalities for new residents, including room allocation, ID cards and orientation to hostel rules.
  • Maintain updated records of all residents with occupancy status, room allocations and emergency contacts.
  • Act as the point of contact for any grievances, resolving them empathetically and escalating where necessary.

C. Discipline & Security

  • Enforce hostel rules, curfews and code of conduct; ensure a respectful and peaceful cohabitation environment.
  • Conduct periodic rounds, especially during late hours, to ensure safety and order.
  • Coordinate with hospital security for any emergency situations or breach of regulations.

D. Health & Emergency Preparedness

  • Maintain an updated list of emergency contacts and protocols (fire, medical, security).
  • Ensure residents are aware of emergency evacuation plans and first aid resources.
  • Liaise with hospital administration for health check-ups or support as required.

E. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain digital and/or manual logs of complaints, maintenance work, incidents and monthly reports.
  • Provide periodic feedback to Admin / HR department on hostel occupancy, issues and recommendations for improvement.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Education

    : Graduate in any discipline (Preference to candidates with hotel/hostel management or ex-service background).
  • Experience

    : Minimum 8 - 10 years in a similar residential management role, preferably in healthcare, education, or hospitality sectors.

  • Skills & Competencies

    :
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Empathy combined with a firm sense of discipline
  • Crisis management and conflict resolution
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and hostel management software (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of compliance, hygiene and safety protocols
