Role Description

NPD – Design Engineer (Mechanical)


Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design activities for new medical device projects.
  • Develop 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using SolidWorks/Creo/Fusion 360.
  • Perform design feasibility assessments, tolerance stack-up, and mechanical analysis.
  • Select appropriate medical-grade materials and components as per application.
  • Support prototyping, testing, verification, and validation activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—electronics, quality, tooling, regulatory, and manufacturing—to ensure design compliance and readiness.
  • Improve and optimize existing products for performance, durability, and cost efficiency.
  • Prepare BOMs, DMR/DHF documentation, and project reports aligned with medical device standards.
  • Work with vendors and toolmakers for component and mould development.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to relevant medical device guidelines, safety norms, and manufacturing processes.


Skills & Competencies Required

  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with practical design experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software and technical drawing creation.
  • Knowledge of injection moulding, plastics, PU films, sheet metal, and medical-grade materials.
  • Understanding of prototyping techniques and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with medical device development lifecycle (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced NPD environments with tight project timelines.
