Role Description The NPD – Design Engineer (Mechanical) will support the development of new medical device products, ensuring robust mechanical design, safety, reliability, and manufacturability. The role requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals combined with an understanding of medical-grade materials, tolerances, and regulatory considerations. Key Roles & Responsibilities Lead mechanical design activities for new medical device projects. Develop 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using SolidWorks/Creo/Fusion 360. Perform design feasibility assessments, tolerance stack-up, and mechanical analysis. Select appropriate medical-grade materials and components as per application. Support prototyping, testing, verification, and validation activities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams—electronics, quality, tooling, regulatory, and manufacturing—to ensure design compliance and readiness. Improve and optimize existing products for performance, durability, and cost efficiency. Prepare BOMs, DMR/DHF documentation, and project reports aligned with medical device standards. Work with vendors and toolmakers for component and mould development. Ensure all designs adhere to relevant medical device guidelines, safety norms, and manufacturing processes. Skills & Competencies Required Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with practical design experience. Proficiency in 3D CAD software and technical drawing creation. Knowledge of injection moulding, plastics, PU films, sheet metal, and medical-grade materials. Understanding of prototyping techniques and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with medical device development lifecycle (preferred but not mandatory). Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to work in fast-paced NPD environments with tight project timelines. Experience: 2 Years Location: Navi Mumbai Department: R&D
