Job Description

Join a team that is changing millions of lives. Transforming smiles. Transforming lives. Transforming an industry. At Align Technology, we believe a great smile can transform a person’s life, so we create technology that gives people the confidence to take on whatever’s next. We revolutionized the orthodontic industry with the introduction of the Invisalign system, and we have never lost sight of that spirit of innovation. Our teams are constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Ready to join us? About this opportunity: We are seeking a versatile MES professional to join our modernization team, supporting the transition of our legacy, on-premises Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to a globally standardized, cloud-based platform (AWS). This role is critical to bridge the gap between our current Java/Rockwellcoded system and the future-state configuration-driven MES, ensuring business continuity during a multi-phase migration. This position is crucial in shaping the future of our manufacturing technology solutions at Align Technology, iTero. In this role, you will…• Configure and customize the new MES platform to replicate existing business logic, minimizing hardcoded solutions by leveraging modern configuration tools and low-code/no-code frameworks. • Assist with the migration and modernization of legacy MES processes, translating Java/Rockwell based code into scalable, cloud-native configurations while reducing technical debt. • Collaborate with cloud architects to migrate the on-premises MES system to a scalable, multi-site cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS) to reduce latency and enable global standardization. • Partner with stakeholders (IT, operations, QA) to analyze legacy system processes, gather requirements, and translate them into optimized configurations for the new platform. • Design and document integration workflows between MES and enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Databricks, S3) using configuration-driven tools instead of custom code. • Support testing and validation of migrated logic and configurations, ensuring alignment with quality standards and operational requirements during the transition phase. • Drive standardization of MES configurations across global production sites, ensuring consistency, scalability, and ease of future updates. • Provide transitional support for the legacy system, addressing user issues, documenting processes, and refining configurations based on feedback. • Develop training materials and documentation to empower end-users and site teams to adopt the new platform’s configuration-driven approach. In this role, you’ll need …• 3-5+ years of hands-on experience configuring, customizing, or modernizing MES platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, PTC) with a focus on reducing technical debt and enabling scalability. • Experience in legacy MES modernization, including translating hard-coded logic (Java/Rockwell) into configuration-driven workflows or low-code/no-code solutions. • Some background in cloud migration for MES systems (AWS preferred), including designing multisite architecture, optimizing latency, and ensuring global standardization. • Experience integrating MES with enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, PLM tools like Arena, data lakes like Databricks/S3) using configuration tools, APIs, or middleware—not just custom code. • Analytical mindset to dissect legacy processes, document requirements, and design future-state configurations that align with business needs. • Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Git) for version-controlled configuration management and automated deployment of MES changes. • Ability to bridge technical and operational teams, translating stakeholder needs into actionable configurations while managing transitional support for legacy systems. • A collaborative, problem-solving attitude with excellent communication skills to engage stakeholders across IT, operations, and global production sites. If you are a proactive and innovative thinker with a passion for MES and cloud technologies, we would love to hear from you. Join us and be part of a team that is driving the future of manufacturing technology Sound like a good fit? Great! Click the Apply link below to let us know you are interested. Not the right fit?
