Merchandiser – Buying & Production

Merchandiser

Key Responsibilities:

1. Buying & Sourcing

·       Identify and source fabrics, trims, and accessories from vendors across India.

·       Negotiate pricing, lead times, and quality standards with suppliers.

·       Maintain a strong vendor network and onboard new suppliers to ensure variety and cost competitiveness.

2. Design & Product Development Coordination

·       Work closely with designers to translate concepts into production-ready garments.

·       Finalize technical details (fabric, trims, colors, measurements, etc.) with manufacturers.

·       Ensure accurate sampling and approvals before bulk production.

3. Production Planning & Vendor Management

·       Coordinate production schedules with manufacturers to meet timelines.

·       Track consumption numbers, costs, and budgets for each style.

·       Monitor production processes and resolve any bottlenecks with vendors.

·       Ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the production cycle.

4. Inventory & Order Fulfilment Alignment

·       Liaise with the operations team to align production with demand forecasts.

·       Ensure timely deliveries to meet e-commerce and retail requirements.

·       Track and manage order status reports from vendors to avoid delays.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

·       Work with designers, warehouse, marketing, and retail teams to ensure smooth product launches.

·       Coordinate photoshoot/product readiness timelines with creative and e-commerce teams.

·       Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders on production progress.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Profile:

✔ Strong knowledge of fabric sourcing (woven, knits, cotton, etc.) across India.

✔ Proven track record in vendor negotiation, relationship management, and production coordination.

✔ Ability to manage multiple styles/vendors simultaneously under tight timelines.

✔ Good understanding of kidswear fits, safety standards, and quality requirements.

✔ Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
