Position Title:

Fire Fighting Mechanical Engineer

Department:

MEP / Fire Protection

Reporting To:

Project Manager / MEP Manager

Job Summary:

A Fire Fighting Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, planning, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fire protection systems in compliance with relevant codes and standards. The engineer ensures systems are designed and executed to prevent and control fire hazards in commercial, residential, and industrial buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Engineering
  • Develop fire fighting system designs based on project requirements and applicable codes (e.g., NFPA, NBC, BS).
  • Create hydraulic calculations, system layouts, and detailed drawings.
  • Prepare BOQs, equipment schedules, and material submittals.
  • Project Execution
  • Supervise installation of fire fighting systems such as sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, fire pumps, FM-200, CO2, and foam systems.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and other services (HVAC, electrical, civil) to ensure smooth execution.
  • Quality Control & Compliance
  • Ensure fire systems meet safety standards and legal requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, review method statements, and ensure quality of work.
  • Perform pressure testing and flushing of pipelines.
  • Testing & Commissioning
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of fire protection systems.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for system handover.
  • Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain project documentation including drawings, test reports, O&M manuals.
  • Coordinate with authorities (like Civil Defense) for approvals and inspections.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in fire protection system design and site supervision.
  • Good knowledge of international fire codes (NFPA, FSAI, etc.).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation software (e.g., Elite Fire).
  • Strong understanding of fire alarm integration with suppression systems.
  • Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
